Our seeds are harvested from 10 year old palms on our property.

The drupes of seeds are hand pollenated by us, usually early to mid April. We then tuck the inflorescence in and around the seed drupes for continued pollination.

The seeds mature all summer and fall. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas we harvest. The drupes hang in an outbuilding during the cold months.

We soak them and clean the epicarp and mesocarp off, for increased germination success, and then dry them. The endocarp and mesocarp contain natural growth inhibitors to keep the seeds from germinating too early in nature. Fun fact… we store our seeds in pizza boxes to keep them nice and dry and in a climate-controlled area… our dining room.

We germinate 300+ seeds to test germination percentage of success, which is consistently 85% or better.

Our palms handle some pretty cold weather in the piedmont of South Carolina which produces some pretty cold hardy next generation seeds.

When you receive your seeds they will be clean and dry.
